Start Golf With Confidence
Start Golf With a Setup You Understand
Your first clubs. A clear plan. Support as your game grows.
Starting golf should feel exciting, not complicated. The Starter Golfer journey helps you make sensible first equipment choices, learn what each club is for, practise with purpose and review your setup once you have real experience behind you.
Tell us your experience, approximate budget and preferred appointment language. We will confirm the available options and quote before you commit.
Your first three months
A Simple Beginner Journey
Four clear stages keep the process useful and easy to understand.
Talk Before You Choose
Discuss how often you expect to play, whether you have taken a lesson, your budget and any clubs you already own.
Outcome: a sensible shortlist and a budget with room for practice and learning.
Build Your Starting Kit
Compare suitable starter options and confirm whether you are left- or right-handed, plus club length, shaft weight, grip comfort and what the set actually includes.
Outcome: equipment choices you understand rather than a generic bundle.
Learn Through Practice
Take an introductory lesson, build a repeatable routine and use indoor simulator time to learn what different shots feel like.
Outcome: useful experience and questions, not pressure to be perfect immediately.
Review After Three Months
Bring your clubs and notes back. Review comfort, strike patterns and useful distance gaps before deciding whether anything needs changing.
Outcome: a next step based on your real game.
Before booking: ask for a written quote covering the consultation, exact equipment and three-month check-up. Confirm any fitting or adjustment charges separately. Lessons and course access should be arranged separately unless expressly included in your quote.

What Do You Actually Need to Start?
A manageable set, a comfortable glove and a supply of balls are a practical starting point. Your first bag should cover different areas of the game without making the game more complicated than it needs to be.
- Starter set: enough clubs to cover long shots, approaches, short shots and putting.
- Glove: a close, comfortable fit that does not force your grip.
- Golf balls: an affordable model you can use consistently while learning.
- Small essentials: tees, ball marker and towel for practice and play.
Browse our complete golf sets and golf balls, then bring your shortlist or questions to the consultation.

Learn Faster With Trackman 4 Simulators
Our indoor golf facility has three Trackman 4 simulators, giving beginners a comfortable way to practise throughout the year. Every shot can provide immediate feedback on useful measures such as distance, launch angle, spin and club path.
You can work on simple target practice, learn how far different clubs carry, repeat the same shot in a controlled environment or enjoy virtual golf courses as your confidence grows.
Useful habits from the start
Three Beginner Principles Worth Keeping
1. Make your first fitting proportionate
A beginner fitting does not need to be overwhelming. Start by making sure the clubs let you swing and make contact comfortably.
2. Check glove shape, not only the label
A good glove should fit closely across the palm and fingers without excess material. Try more than one size while holding a club.
3. Test golf balls on short shots too
Feel and predictability around the green matter as much as one long drive. Compare balls from repeatable short-shot positions within your budget.

Bring These Five Things to Your Consultation
You do not need to buy equipment before asking for advice.
Include room for learning and practice, not only equipment.
Borrowed or old clubs can still provide useful context.
Tell us whether you are completely new and how often you hope to practise.
Comfort and setup are easier to discuss with your normal practice gear.
Bring comfort concerns, preferred appointment language and anything you are unsure about.
Before you begin
Starter Golfer Questions
Useful answers for a first visit.
Do I need a full set of clubs to begin?
No. You can learn with a smaller selection. Ask which clubs cover the shots you will practise first, then compare that with the contents and value of a complete starter set.
Is Starter Golfer a fixed-price package?
Ask the team for a personalised quote. The exact starter set, glove, ball quantity, consultation and three-month check-up arrangements should be confirmed before purchase.
Can I practise indoors before I am ready for a course?
Yes. Our three Trackman 4 simulators are a useful year-round practice option. You can hit to targets, see shot data, learn approximate carry distances and build confidence in a controlled environment.
Are golf lessons included?
Do not assume lessons are included. Equipment advice and swing coaching serve different purposes. Ask the team about learning options and confirm lesson costs and availability with the provider.
Why review my setup after three months?
Practice gives you much more useful feedback than a first visit alone. The check-up can review comfort, strike and distance gaps, then decide whether an adjustment, an additional club or simply more time with your current setup makes sense.
Can I start if I am left-handed or buying for a junior?
Yes, but tell the team before the appointment so suitable options can be checked. For juniors, discuss current height and strength rather than assuming adult clubs are appropriate.
Does buying equipment give me access to a golf course?
No. Ask your chosen club about beginner sessions, booking, fees and any playing-level or membership requirements. Equipment purchase does not provide course permission or a handicap.
